The Voyageurs headed down into unfamiliar territory on Friday night, looking for their first win of the season. For the first time in well over a decade, the team visited Ron Joyce Stadium, home of the McMaster Marauders, but unfortunately a change of scenery did not help as the Marauders prevailed 4-0.
The opening half saw the Voyageurs' back line hold strong, keeping the Marauders' attack at bay until the 38th minute when Emilie Calabrese fired one past Hunter Jones off of a free kick. That Calabrese marker seemed to open the flood gates for the Marauders as they would add three more goals in a 15 minute span early in the second half to take the game 4-0.
Despite giving up four goals, Jones stood tall in her first OUA start, making 11 saves on the night.
The Voyageurs will look to return the favour and get into the win column when they host the Marauders on Sunday afternoon with kick-off scheduled for 2pm at the LU Soccer Field.
