Tigers down Aigles Bleues 3-0, extend win streak to six games

(HALIFAX, N.S.) - The Dalhousie Tigers extended their winning streak to six games Friday night at the Dalplex as they dispatched the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues 3-0 (25-15, 25-23, 25-17).

The Aigles Bleues are now winless in their last nine games. The Tigers have only dropped one set during the six-game surge.

Mieke Dumont a game-high 11 kills in the victory, while Anna Dunn-Suen added 10 kills and 11 digs. Last week's female Subway AUS athlete of the week Marisa Mota had 14 digs.

Alyssa Turenne had a team-high eight kills in the loss for Moncton, while Christelle Bertin chipped in seven kills and eight digs. Catherine Guitard came up big defensively with 14 digs.

After the Tigers jumped out to a 16-11 lead in the first set, they went on a 9-4 run as they took the first set 25-15.

The Aigles Bleues soared out to a 9-4 lead early in the second set, but the Tigers came right back as they regained the lead to make it a 11-10 game. They kept up the momentum for the rest of the quarter, winning 25-23 and putting them within one set win of a game victory.

Moncton looked good early on in the third set, but the Tigers persevered to take the final set 25-17 to take the game 3-0.

The Tigers will take on the UNB Varsity Reds Sunday, followed by Saint Mary's Huskies on the road next Thursday, in their last two regular season matches. The Aigles Bleues will look to end their season on a winning note when they take on the Cape Breton Capers next Sunday.
