Aigles Bleues top Capers 3-0 to finish fifth in regular season standings

(MONCTON, N.B.) - The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues ended their regular season on Sunday with a 3-0 victory over the Cape Breton Capers in an AUS women's volleyball game at the CEPS Louis J. Robichaud gymnasium.

Moncton won the sets 25-11, 25-20 and 25-16.

Subway players of the game were Véronique Carroll and Geneviève LeBlanc.

Christelle Bertin had 19 attacks and Geneviève LeBlanc had nine kills for the Aigles Bleues. Bertin added 10 digs and Véronique Carroll, 28 assists.

Brooklyn Hamilton had five kills for the Capers and Katrine Roberge added 13 digs.

Fifth-year student-athlete Véronique Carroll and fourth-year Geneviève LeBlanc were honoured before the game as they put an end to their university careers. 

With the win, the Aigles (4-12) grabbed fifth spot in the final regular season standings and will travel to Fredericton on Thursday for the Subway AUS Women's Volleyball Championship being hosted by UNB in Fredericton.

Moncton will face the Memorial Sea-Hawks in quarterfinal action on Friday evening.
