Axewomen hold on to win in five over Memorial, stay undefeated

WOLFVILLE, N.S. — Acadia pulled off a thrilling 3-2 victory over Memorial on Nov. 1, 2024, at Stu Aberdeen Court, edging out Memorial in a tightly contested match.

Memorial took an early lead, winning the first set 25-23, but Acadia rallied to take the second set 25-21. The Sea-Hawks bounced back to claim the third set 25-19, before Acadia evened the score again in the fourth set, 25-22. In a decisive fifth set, Acadia emerged on top, 15-11.

Courtney Hodder and Lydia Grawer were standouts for Memorial. Hodder recorded 15 kills and 11 digs, while Grawer contributed 15 kills and 18 digs. Alexia Lemay-Evans led Acadia with 13 kills and 12 digs.

Charley McDonald was named Acadia's player of the game, while Courtney Hodder earned player of the game honours for Memorial.

The close match was a showcase of skill and resilience from both teams, thrilling fans in attendance.
