REDS Rally Past Sea-Hawks
(FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB REDS came back from a set down to beat the visiting Memorial Sea-Hawks 3-1 in Atlantic University Sport women's volleyball action, Saturday afternoon at UNB's Richard J. Currie Center.
The REDS won 11-25, 25-21, 25-18, and 25-23.
Among the highlights, UNB's Jenna Adams (Truro, NS) recorded her 1000th dig in AUS regular season play, becoming only the third player in UNB women's volleyball history to reach that milestone. Adams finished the match with 17 digs for her team.
UNB got game-highs from Talia Nixon (Fredericton, NB) with 32 assists, 15 kills from Lydia Green (Bedford, NS), and Danielle Krzywonos (Valley, NS) with 8 blocks. Krzywonos, who also registered half a dozen kills, was named Tim Horton's Player of the Game.
On the other side, Memorial's Sarah Trowbridge (Sunnyside, NL) posted a game-high 27 digs in a losing effort. Olivia DeDecker (Kipling, SK) had 20 digs and Karen Greek (Mount Pearl, NS) added 29 assists.
With the win, the REDS now sit at 9-10 and in fourth place, while Memorial falls to 10-8. They're third in the standings.
The REDS head to Moncton to face the Aigles Bleues on Friday at 7:00pm, while the Sea-Hawks take on Dalhousie in Halifax on Friday.
