RECAP: Women’s volleyball take down McMaster in opening game

The University of Ottawa women's volleyball team was in the Steel City for a pair of battles with the McMaster Marauders.
The Gee-Gees were slow to get started but narrowed the gap towards the end of the opening set, falling 21-25.
Christine Hachokake was first to log a point for Ottawa in the second set, getting up for a huge block against her former team. Ottawa slowly built a lead and took the set 25-19 to even things out.
The Gee-Gees got the jump in set three and stayed ahead of the Marauders the rest of the waying. Taking sets three and four with matching 25-22 scores, Ottawa claimed a 3-1 win.
Audrey Odigie led Ottawa with 16 points with 14 kills and two service aces. Harper Schaefer was the assist leader for the Gee-Gees with 27 assists and tacking on seven digs.
On Saturday, the teams met for a second contest. The Marauders meant business and took a 3-0 victory.
Again, Odigie led the charge for the Ottawa squad with 15 points. Nicole Hildebrand led the defensive effort with 10 digs, followed closely my Jessica Goodman who contributed eight.
The Gee-Gees have one last roadswing next weekend when they head Peterborough to meet with the Trent Excalibur. After that, the team will complete the OUA regular season on home court.
