The Gee-Gees women's volleyball team hosted the Windsor Lancers for a pair of afternoon matchups over the weekend.
On Saturday, Montpetit welcomed a sold-out crowd for the first game of the series.
The Lancers snuck away with a tight 25-23 opening set win. The Gee-Gees responded, an incredible pinch serve by rookie, Tara Gosling, gave Ottawa a 25-17 win to even the score.
After a back-and-forth start to set three, Windsor started to make a run, but the home squad flipped the momentum as Gee-Gees captain, Audrey Odigie, took control from the serving line. Ottawa tied the set up at 19-19, eventually winning 25-22.
Ottawa came out firing in the fourth set, taking a 5-0 lead to force a Windsor timeout. The Lancers were able to claw their way back into the game, winning 25-19 to send the game to a fifth set.
The final set began as another back-and-forth affair with the Gee-Gees leading 8-7 at the half-way point. The teams continued to trade points, each refusing to let the other pull ahead.
Eventually, the Lancers were able to close things out at 15-12 for the 3-2 win.
In their second meeting of the weekend, the Gee-Gees took the opening set 26-24.
Windsor took a convincing set two win with a score of 25-14 before winning the next two sets 26-24. With the 3-1 victory, the Lancers were headed back to Windsor with a pair of wins.
The Gee-Gees have two games left on the schedule as they host the Queen's Gaels on Friday and Saturday.
