Having fought hard against Russia the day before, the Canadians saw the Swiss take control early in the game. The Swiss took 10-6 and 21-14 leads in the first set, to ultimately take it 25-16.

Canada offered a better fight in the second frame, but still they could not take control of the match. John Barrett’s squad had an opportunity with a set point at 24-23, but Switzerland levelled the score before stealing the set, 27-25.

The Canadians were unable to turn things around, losing the third set 25-22, thus being swept for a fourth straight game.

"I am very disappointed that we have not been able to take advantage of this incredible learning opportunity, by prolonging our matches', said Barrett. "We have had the chances, once again, against the Swiss, but we were unable to capitalize on the openings they left us. In the end, technical execution is the only way to progress and we have struggled in this regard. We have a lot of work ahead of us. It is the only way forward."

Canada will continue the competition on the consolation side of the draw on Thursday against an opponent yet to be determined.
