St. John's, NL - After a tough start to the season, the Memorial Sea-Hawks notched their first win against the StFX X-Men with an 80-76 victory Sunday afternoon in what featured a great competition.

After splitting the two-game series, Memorial betters to 1-5 on the season, while StFX falls to 1-4.

Julius Antoine poured in 21 points and 5 rebounds for StFX while Nathan Barker led the Sea-Hawks with 30 points. Barker also earned Subway Player-of-the-Game commendations.

After a tough loss the previous night, Memorial came out gunning against StFX on Sunday. Barker performed consistently in the first half, leading Memorial with 15 points on 7-for-11 shooting. StFX struggled to convert easy buckets early, shooting just 30% from the field.

For the X-Men, the second half was an improvement, but it was not enough to push them into the lead. The third quarter was a solid showing for X as they outscored the Sea-Hawks 29-20, shooting 71% from the field, a stark contrast to their first half woes.

StFX carried that momentum into the fourth quarter and took their first lead of the game at 61-60, but Memorial quickly responded with a 5-0 run. The score remained close for the remainder of the quarter, but the Sea-Hawks were able to hold onto their lead and the win.

Memorial hopes to keep this momentum going into their next two-game series against UNB in Fredericton on November 25th, and 26th. The X-Men will next see action when they host Cape Breton on November 25th at 8:00 pm.
