The Cape Breton University Capers picked up a much-needed win Sunday, downing the Mount Allison Mounties 3-0 in AUS men's soccer action at the Cape Breton Health Recreation Complex on the CBU campus.
With the victory, Cape Breton improves to 2-2-1 on the year and sit in a fifth place tie with Mount Allison, 2-3-1, in the AUS standings.
Second-year striker Justin Maheu continued his torrid scoring pace, recording all three Capers goals to give him seven in five games on the season.
Maheu, who sits atop the AUS scoring race, scored in the games 1st, 34th and 65th minutes to provide all the offence the home side would need.
Josh Lines was credited with the win in the CBU goal while Michael DeLong made six saves in a losing cause for the Mounties.
The Capers will be on the road this weekend when they travel to Halifax for a rematch with the Dalhousie Tigers Saturday and then to Antigonish for a Sunday afternoon showdown with the StFX X-Men.
