Brock women's volleyball falls to Ryerson 3-1
ST. CATHARINES, Ont - The Brock University women's volleyball team (1-1 OUA) was defeated by the Ryerson Rams 3-1 (19-25, 25-22, 13-25, 11-25) Thursday night at Bob Davis Gymnasium.
ST. CATHARINES, Ont - The Brock University women's volleyball team (1-1 OUA) was defeated by the Ryerson Rams 3-1 (19-25, 25-22, 13-25, 11-25) Thursday night at Bob Davis Gymnasium.
Brock came out strong in the first game as the two teams battled back and forth for the majority of the set before Ryerson would eventually capitalize; taking game one by the score of 25-19.
In game two, the Badgers were down 18-9, before rallying back to win the set 25-22. Ryerson would win the two final games of the match, highlighted by a 14-4 run, in game four, on route to the 3-1 victory.
Top scorer for the Badgers was Brianna Hamilton who registered 12 kills and seven digs. Renee Helmer contributed with 10 kills and six digs while Katie Murray added four kills and 10 digs. Setter Lauren Stirling recorded 28 assists, six digs and five aces. Karlinna O'Leary added 14 digs on defense in the loss.
Veronica Livingston and Emily Nicholishen led the Ryerson offense adding 11 and 10 kills respectively.
Brock hit just .147 for the match adding 40 kills and 23 errors on 116 attempts. They collected 10 aces in total, but also gave up 16 service errors.
The Rams hit .327 as a team adding 42 kills with 10 errors on 98 attempts.
