(Halifax, NS) In AUS Men's basketball action, the Saint Mary's kept their perfect record going, with a 90-77 win over the visiting Cape Breton Capers Friday night at the Homburg Centre.
Fourth year guard, Kemar Alleyne (Scarborough, ON) lead all scoring with 29 points and 3 rebounds. Nikita Kasongo (Montreal, PQ) and Nico Brauner (Wiesbaden, Germany) added 12 a piece and Will Fiander (Halifax, NS) was the other Huskie in double digits with 10 points.
For the Capers, Reuben Edwards (Baltimore, MD) led his team with 21 points and 4 rebounds. Rounding out the Capers scoring were Osman Omar (Mississauga, ON) and Eugene Kankue (Ottawa, ON) both with 15.
Brent Martindale (Kingston, ON) started off the scoring for the Huskies 8 seconds in and the Huskies held the lead until the final buzzer. At the end of the first quarter SMU lead 26-16 and at the half 48-37.
Kemar Alleyne received the Subway player of the game with the game high 29 points.
The third place Capers (7-9), head to Acadia Saturday to face the Axemen.
The StFX X-men are next up for the (16-0) Huskies. They travel to Antigonish Saturday for an 8 p.m. start.
