(FREDERICTON, N.B.) - The St. Thomas Tommies grabbed their first win of the season Friday night as they topped the Dalhousie Tigers 4-0 in AUSt hockey action at the Grant-Harvey Centre in front of 527 fans.

Colin Martin had three points for the Tommies, and Matt MacLeod had two. Rookie goaltender Tyson Teichmann earned his first shutout, making 27 saves in the win.

"It's nice to see that he's kind of getting acclimatized to the AUS," Tommies head coach Pat Powers said of Teichmann after the game. "Hopefully that's just a sign of things to come."

Eric Diodati opened the scoring early in the first and Martin followed suit 13 seconds later to put the Tommies up 2-0.

The Tommies extended their lead midway through the frame as JC LaFlamme broke out and beat Tigers' netminder Corbin Boes with a shot from the slot.

The Tigers pressed in the final minute, but Teichmann stood tall between the pipes to maintain the Tommies' three-goal lead after 20 minutes.

The second period was scoreless until Steven Janes roofed the puck over Boes shoulder at 15:54, finishing a great feed from Martin—who kept possession despite being tripped.

The Tigers created six scoring opportunities in the frame, but couldn't find the back of the net.

"I thought we played a real good first 40 minutes," Powers said. "I thought we really kept them on their heels for the better part of the game."

Despite having three power plays in the third, the Tigers couldn't capitalize.

With the win, the Tommies move to 1-9-3 on the season, while the Tigers drop to 4-9-0.

The Tommies are back in action Saturday when they host the Acadia Axemen at the Grant-Harvey Centre. The Tigers will travel to Prince Edward Island to face the UPEI Panthers.
