The Mount Allison Mounties opened the AUS women's hockey regular season with an 8-0 loss at home to StFX on Friday night.
The X-women, picked in the coaches' poll to finish 1st in the AUS in 2020-21, got to work early as Ellie Brown 2:47 into the game to give the blue and white a 1-0 lead. Goals by Emerson Elliott and Ella VandeSompel resulted in a 3-0 lead for the X-women by the end of the 1st period.
The scoring continued for the visitors in the 2nd period as Anna MacCara, Lacey Dimaulo and Maggie Johnston picked up goals to stretch the lead to 6-0. Emma Thomas and Laura Dabrowski rounded on the scoring for an X-Women squad that put 55 shots on the Mounties net.
Amaya Giraudier made 15 saves to pick up a shutover in the StFX net.
The Mounties are back in action to take on UPEI on Saturday, October 9th at 7pm AST. StFX hosts UPEI on Friday, October 15th.
