Tigers overpower Varsity Reds, win 3-0

The UNB Varsity Reds simply couldn't handle the Dalhouse Tigers Saturday afternoon at the Dalplex, and the Tigers cruised to a 3-0 victory (25-20, 25-13, 25-18) and improve to 4-1 on the season, while UNB slips to 2-6 on the season with the loss.

UNB struggled to contain the Tigers' offense and couldn't keep the ball in bounds.

Much like the rest of the season, the Tigers were led by Desiree Nouwen and Maggie Li, who had 11 and 12 kills, respectively.

UNB and Dal traded points early, until a 4-0 Tiger run led to a UNB timeout. The Tigers never took their foot off the gas pedal and won the first set 25-20.

The second set was a completely different story, and it was all in the Tigers' favor. Highlighted by eight straight serves by Tara Gowan, Dalhousie powered their way to a 25-13 win, ending on an 11-4 run.

The third set was all Tigers, with the Varsity Reds missing multiple blocks and sending their attacks wide, and Dal took the third set 25-18.

Rebecca Glancy set the pace for the Varsity Reds, with six kills and 11 points. Vanja Mitrovicn added seven kills in the loss.

Both teams will head to Sherbrooke to compete in AUS-RSEQ Interlock competition.
