Tommies top Aigles Bleues 2-1 Friday in Moncton

(MONCTON, N.B.) - The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (17-5-2) gave up a goal to Myfanway Thomson at 18:49 of the third and lost 2-1 to the St. Thomas University Tommies (10-10-4) in an AUS women's hockey game Friday evening at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena.

The Aigles ended their regular season schedule and will not play for the next two weeks, having a bye in the first round of the Subway AUS women's hockey championship. They will return to the ice for the semifinal round of the playoffs.

Teah Anderson got the other Tommies marker, with the lone goal in the second period.

Marie-Pier Arsenault (from Cassandra Labrie and Amélie Dion) notched the first goal of the game for the Aigles in the first.

Moncton had a 32-19 advantage on shots on goal, including 14-6 in the first period. Gabrielle Forget registered the loss in nets and Abby Clarke, the win.

Fourth-year players Amélie Dion, Amélie Larivière, Marie-Pier Arsenault, Kaitlyn Gallaway and Jodie Dupéré and fifth-year players Marika Lacroix and Manon Lamarre were honoured prior to the game.
