Blues top Gaels, advance to OUA Final Four

Nirun Sivananthan scored the lone goal as the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's soccer team defeated the Queen's Gaels 1-0 in OUA quarter-final action on Sunday, October 26 at Varsity Centre.
With the win, the Blues advance to the OUA Final Four next weekend, November 1-2, at Tim Horton's Field in Hamilton, Ont. Toronto will take on the top seed in the West in the semifinals on Saturday.
The Blues had the first opportunity to score when Russell Rodrigues sprinted down the sideline and sent a nice cross to Nikoli Savaliev, but his header sailed wide of the net.
Toronto did open the scoring in the 17th minute when Nirun Sivananthan used some nifty footwork to beat two defenders and sent the ball into the far side of the net.
U of T led 1-0 at the half.
Blues goalkeeper Rab Bruce-Lockhart made a great challenge midway through the second half, stopping a dangerous Queen's attack.
Bruce-Lockhart and the entire Blues back line were phenomenal in the closing minutes of the match to solidify the 1-0 victory.
