1982 – UBC 39 Western 14

Vanier Cup '82 will be looked back on as the year UBC ground out a record 364 yards and a 39-14 championship over Western.

UBC running back Glenn Steele set records with two TDs and 236 yards rushing on 21 carries to win the Ted Morris Memorial Trophy.

Quarterback Jay Gard had a strong game through the air, completing 14 of 20 passes for two TDs and 206 yards.

Running back Chris Byrne scored Western's lone TD of the day.

It was the fifth Vanier Cup coaching appearance for Western's Darwin Semotiuk, who also had played for Alberta in the 1965 inaugural game.
