1972 – Alberta 20 Waterloo Lutheran 7

The Cup went West again as Alberta defeated Waterloo Lutheran 20-7.

The Golden Bears used three quarterbacks to secure the win with appearances by Gary Weisbrot, Terry Cairnes and Roy Beechey.

Waterloo Lutheran's Gerry Blacker scored one touchdown and rushed for 134 yards in a solid performance as WLU suffered their third Vanier Cup loss.
