Message from Team Canada’s Chef de Mission
Congratulations on earning the privilege to represent Canada at the 2017 Winter Universiade in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
On behalf of U Sports and the mission staff, I’m excited to welcome you to the games. The opportunity to represent your country in a significant international sporting event is a unique opportunity in life and we all hope that this experience will give you memories for years to come.
Beyond your competition, we hope you take the time to socialize with athletes from around the world, making new connections, appreciating other cultures and sports and representing Canada well.
FISU and the Organizing Committee have been working hard to provide an incredible experience and it was quite evident when we visited Almaty in September. My hope is that you will enjoy these games, compete at your best, and represent Canada proudly. In your free time, I hope to see you supporting your fellow teammates as they compete at the various venues.
I look forward to meeting all of you all in person and cheering you on during your experience in Kazakhstan. On behalf of all the outstanding people that have been selected as coaches, managers, medical and administrative staff that are part of Team Canada, compete well and good luck!
