First Team All-Canadian Emilia Mikanovich had 17 kills and 11 digs, while Breanna Golding added 11 kills and eight digs, as Saint Mary's upended Saskatchewan 3-1 (25-19, 14-25, 25-18, 26-24) in the second consolation semifinal of the 2025 U SPORTS Women's Volleyball Championship at the Investors Group Athletic Centre in Winnipeg.
Grace Blaskovits chipped in 11 digs and 30 assists for Saint Mary's, who rallied from behind to win in the fourth and deny Saskatchewan a fifth and deciding frame in the Battle of the Huskies.
Abbey Klein contributed nine kills and Rosetta Cyr and Jessica Bergstrom had eight each, while Tielle Hagel led the way in digs with 10 and Juli Howell Bourner registered a .556 per cent efficiency and eight block assists in a losing cause for Saskatchewan – who were making their first appearance at the national tournament since 2005.
Saint Mary's recorded a .208 hitting percentage in the match, compared to Saskatchewan's .189
With the win, Saint Mary's advances to play McMaster on Sunday in the consolation final at 2 p.m. ET / 1 p.m. CT, while Saskatchewan ends their season with an overall record of 14-16 in regular season, conference playoff and U SPORTS Championship action.
