No. 2 Carabins cruise to shutout over Gaiters
A brace by Eva Thouvenot led the No. 2-ranked Montreal Carabins to an 8-0 victory over the Bishop?s Gaiters in Quebec University Soccer League action tonight. Thouvenot?s first goal put the Carabins up 2-0 in the 13th minute, while her second goal, in the 44th minute, gave Montreal a 5-0 halftime lead.
Marylise Monchalin (7?), Emilie Chamard (23?), Veronique Laverdi?re (36?), Virginie Levesque (67?), Chlo? Sabourin (PK 71?) and Emmanuelle Beliveau (73?) had the other goals for Montreal (4-1-0). Laverdi?re and Isabelle Dumais each picked up two assists.
Becky Yates made 12 saves in goal for Bishop?s, and was named the Gaiters? team MVP. Laverdi?re took MVP honours for Montreal.
The game was halted for approximately 15 minutes at the 60-minute mark due to a thick fog that enveloped Coulter Field.
The Gaiters? (0-4-1) next action is on Sunday, as they visit the UQTR Patriotes (0-5-0). UQTR suffered a 5-0 loss at McGill tonight. Kickoff at the CAPS in Trois-Rivi?res is set for 1 p.m.
