Once again, on Sunday, hosting the Huskies, the women Mounties tied 0-0 for the third contest in a row. Though four players were missing due to injury, the Mounties fought hard the whole game with a determined defense and an even more accomplished performance was put in by keeper Elissa McCarron, who once again recorded her third shutout after making 17 saves. Hilary Hamilton was selected as the Mounties' Player of the Game while SMU's Annie Langley was chosen from the visitor's team.
In the men's game that followed, the Huskies got off to a quick start scoring from 20 metres in the second minute of play. Then mid way through the first half unnecessary confusion in the Mounties' defense allowed the deficit to double. Ten minutes later though, the home team's full back Adam Brown lifted the ball over the SMU keeper's head narrowing the score to 2-1 for the visitors. Just before the half though, the Huskies scored one more off a penalty. In the second half, the number-one ranked Huskies' midfielder Ian Coke scored twice to make the final score 5-1 for SMU. Coke was SMU's Player of the Game, while Alex Zscheile was the Mounties' best.
The Mounties now head to St. FX on Saturday, September 25, for two games in Antigonish, and on Sunday, September 26, return to the MacAulay Field at Mount Allison for 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm games.
