Reece Hall's double-double led the No. 8-seeded Alberta Pandas to a 68-61 win over the No.4-seed Saint Mary's Huskies in the first consolation game of the 2025 INDOCHINO U SPORTS Women's Final 8, presented by Victory Creative Group, at the War Memorial Gym in Vancouver, Friday. The third-year forward from Calgary scored 13 points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds to lead the Pandas into Saturday's fifth-place game.
The game was tight throughout, with 14 lead changes and eight ties. Alberta held a 27-22 lead after a frenetic first quarter, and a slim 35-33 edge at halftime. After the game was tied at 57-57 with 5:36 left in the fourth, the Pandas pulled away with a 6-0 run in the next two minutes to take the lead for good.
Annacy Palmer and Jayden Tanner led the Pandas in scoring with 15 points apiece. Palmer and Tanner each connected three times from beyond the arc. Clara Gascoigne led Saint Mary's with 16 points, while Marlo Steenbakkers had 10.
With the win, Alberta advances to Saturday's fifth-place game, set for 3 p.m. Pacifc Time. Saint Mary's closes out its season with an AUS championship and a 25-5 record against U SPORTS opposition.
