Women’s Bronze Medal Game: UPEI finishes third in win over Laval
SPORTS Player of the Year Jenna Mae Ellsworth’s jump shot with 1:49 remaining proved to be the difference as the UPEI Panthers overcame an 18-point deficit to defeat the Laval Rouge et Or 57-50 in the women’s bronze medal game at the 2020 U SPORTS Final 8 Basketball Championships on Sunday at the Arena at TD Place.

Reese Baxendale added 17 points and seven rebounds for UPEI, while Kim Letang had 16 points and three rebounds in a losing cause for Laval.
UPEI shot 29.5 per cent from the field and 33.3 per cent from three, compared to Laval's 24 per cent shooting and 20.6 per cent from beyond the arc.
With the win, UPEI ends their season with an overall record of 21-4 in regular season, conference playoff and U SPORTS Championship action while Laval complied an overall record of 15-6.
