A pair of goals in the span of 45 seconds gave No. 3-seed Concordia Stingers a 4-2 comeback win over the No. 6 seed Moncton Aigles Bleus in the third quarterfinal of the 2025 BioSteel U SPORTS University Cup in Ottawa, Friday. The Stingers erased a 2-1 deficit on goals by Charles Savoie at 6:14 and Edouard Charron at 6:49 to advance to the national men's hockey semifinals for the first time since the current eight-team format was adopted, and won their first game at a University Cup tournament since 1984.
The Aigles Bleus, who were the AUS finalists for the second consecutive year, got on the board first on a goal by Charles-Edouard Drouin at 5:54 of the first. The Stingers tied the game up at the 14:04 mark as Simon Lavigne found the net.
Moncton retook the lead at 3:03 of the second period on a goal by former Magog Cantonnier Jacob Dion and took the 2-1 lead into the second intermission.
However, the Stingers came out firing in the third, with Savoie and Charron combining to turn a deficit into a lead in under a minute. Nicholas Girouard added an insurance marker for the Stingers with 1:27 left to play.
With the win, Concordia advances to Saturday's semifinal, where they will play the winner of Friday night's game between Saskatchewan and Queen's.
