New operations management for Moncton men’s hockey team

In an effort to provide a fresh boost to the men’s hockey team, the Université de Moncton announces the hiring of Jean-François Damphousse as its director of hockey operations.

“We are thrilled to have an individual of this calibre decide to join our organization,” said Marc Boudreau, athletic director. “This is an important moment for the Université de Moncton. This new position is part of our strategy to bring our men’s hockey team back to the top within the next few years.”

The new director of hockey operations’ mandate will be to see to the recruitment of new players, to develop a strategic plan and to ensure links to the community.

“This is an important step in my career. It’s a decision that I thought about carefully, and I must admit that I’m very happy to work not only with the team, but with its partners, as well,” Mr. Damphousse said.

Jean-François Damphousse is very well known in the hockey world as a former professional player. He is the former head coach and owner of the Dieppe Commandos. He also worked for the Moncton Wildcats team as goalie coach from 2013-2015. Mr. Damphousse was picked by the New Jersey Devils in the first round of the National Hockey League draft in 1997. He is also a former player for the Moncton Wildcats in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
