(WOLFVILLE, NS) The Acadia Axewomen defeated the UNB REDS 3-0 on Friday, maintaining their perfect record at 4-0.

The first set was a tight defensive battle that swung back and forth between the teams.

Standout libero Becky Dorsey (Toronto, ON) was all over the floor this set, coming up with numerous digs on her way to Subway Player of the Game honours.

Despite the REDS putting in a gutsy showing, Acadia would come out on top of this set 27-25.

The second set was a surgical performance by the Axewomen, who won 25-13.

The Axewomen took an early third set lead, but the REDS posted a comeback from an 18-10 deficit to tie the set at 19. UNB middle hitter Kindigo Watson (Calgary, AB) put on the type of performance that doesn't show up in the stat sheet, but was visible from the stands. In the end, the REDS rally would fall short and a beautiful Charlotte Dean (Mississauga, ON) dump shot would seal the game and match for Acadia, who took the final set 25-21.

"We have, like, this special inter-connectedness between us. We're all out here playing for each other and you can sense it when you're on the court and I think you can see it when you're in the stands," said Dorsey, who finished with five assists and 18 digs. Dean had 19 digs and Taylor Collombin (Victoria, BC) posted a match-high 12 kills.

UNB's Emma Burns (Fredericton, NB) landed eight kills for 10.5 points in the loss.

The Axewomen will be looking to maintain their perfect record in a Saturday rematch with the REDS. Game time is 2:00pm.
