SAULT STE MARIE - The Brock Badgers opened their 2022 campaign on Friday afternoon with a decisive 4-0 victory over the Algoma Thunderbirds in Sault Ste Marie.
Brock delivered in a dominant first half which saw the Badgers record three goals from seven shots on goal. Meanwhile the Badgers defence held the Thunderbirds attack in check as the home-side failed to register a shot on goal in the first 45 minutes of action.
Tiago Pereira opened the scoring for the Badgers in the 24th minute, quickly followed by markers from
Ethan Miskolczi and
Nicholas Esperanca in the 32nd and 37th.
Algoma continued to be overmatched in the second half, picking up two yellow cards within the final 25 minutes. Meanwhile,
Noah DeDominicis rounded out the goal-scoring for Brock with the fourth and final goal for the Badgers in the 85th. Brock goalkeeper
Taylor Miskolczi recorded two saves in the winning effort.
Remaining on the road, the Badgers will next travel to Windsor to challenge the Lancers on Friday, Sept. 9. Kick-off is scheduled for 8:15 p.m.
