The Gee-Gees women's volleyball team made their first trip to Trois-Rivières to face the UQTR Patriotes Sunday afternoon, falling to the upstart Pats three sets to one.
The Pats took the first two sets by identical 25-19 scores, before Ottawa showed good composure to take the third set 25-18. UQTR ended the match by taking set four 25-19.
Alissa Veilleux and Ophelie Pageau did the damage for the home side, notching 12 and 11 kills respectively in UQTR's first win of the year.
Grace McKale turned in an encouraging performance, recording a team-high 10 kills along with nine digs. Alana Leung led her squad with a .300 kill percentage.
Ottawa struggled from the service line, notching 13 service errors to six service aces.
Sunday's matchup was the first meeting between the two schools on the volleyball court, as 2021-22 is the Patriotes first season in RSEQ Division 1. They won each of the last three Division 2 titles. UQTR (1-3) will pay their first visit to Montpetit Hall on Sunday, Nov. 21.
Ottawa (0-3) is back in action on Sunday, Nov. 7 when they travel to Montreal to take on the UQAM Citadens (2-1).
