(FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB REDS got a pair of goals from second year striker Heidi Lauwerijssen (Kensington, PE) in a 2-2 draw with the Saint Mary's Huskies, on Saturday afternoon, at UNB's BMO Centre.

The visiting Huskies' were first on the board, scoring in the 11th minute.

Julia Pasma (Georgetown, ON) got her head on a ball and put it past REDS' keeper Brynn Nash (Saskatoon, SK).

The hosts rallied, nine minutes later, when veteran midfielder Jesse Bellamy (St. Catharines, ON) intercepted a pass in front of the Huskies' net, drew the SMU keeper to one side and fed a pass to Lauwerijssen who had an easy tap-in goal.

"Jesse pressed them really hard and I just happened to be there at the end and she slipped me a nice one," said Lauwerijssen, named Subway Player of the Game. "It was all her hard work."

Lauwerijssen struck again, in the 38th minute, heading home a goal following a UNB free kick deep in the Huskies' zone.

"Carol (Grzesniak) took the nice free kick and hit the post and it came right to my head, so I just tapped it in," she said.

The REDS took that 2-1 lead to the half-time break.

Anelise Karakostas (Victoria, BC) headed in a goal in the 83rd minute to draw the Huskies even.

"It was hard," said Lauwerijssen. "We worked hard in the first half and wanted to come out even harder in the second, but things didn't quite go our way and they got a nice one there at the end."

The Huskies continue their weekend road swing on Sunday, visiting l'Universitè de Moncton for a 1:00pm start.

The REDS travel to Charlottetown and will face the UPEI Panthers. That game is also scheduled for a 1:00pm start.
