SMU doubles Moncton 4-2 in women's hockey action

(Moncton, NB) Saint Mary's University Huskies (11-1-0=22pts, 1st position) scored three goals in a span of 8 minutes in the third period to break up a 1-1 tie game and beat Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (2-9-1=5pts, 8th position), 4-2 on Sunday in an Atlantic University Sport women's hockey game at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena.  

Shea Demale, at 8:42, Subway player of the game Miranda Hatt, at 11:43 and Brooke Murphy, at 16:10, got the third period markers for the visitors. Ellen Laurence, on the power play in the first, had the first goal. Katherine Dubuc (Catherine Longchamps, Samantha Mclaughlin), in the middle period on the power play and Aude Massé (Jennifer Arsenault), at the end of the game, picked up the Moncton goals. Audrey Berthiaume handled 39 shots, including 15 in the first and 14 in the third period, for the loss. Rebecca Clark registered the win with 14 saves. Moncton was 1 for 3 on the power play and Saint Mary's, 1 for 5.

The Blue and Gold will hold two home games on the weekend. They host University of New Brunswick Reds, Friday and the Mount Allison University Mounties, Saturday, both games at 7p.m. the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena.

Saint Mary's will host UNB Saturday at 3 at the Dauphinee Centre.
