Hockey Aigles Bleues win 4-1 over Panthers
Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (4-14-1=9pts, 7th position) scored four unanswered goals to skate to a 4-1 win over University of Prince Edward Island Panthers (14-4-1=29pts, 2nd position), Thursday at the J.-Louis-Lévesque in the first game of the second semester of Atlantic University Sport women’s hockey.

Janie Poitras led the offensive push with two goals, her first on the power play in the middle period and her second, the fourth of the game in the third stanza. Maëlle Rioux (Sarah-Ève Mailhot), in the second and Aude Massé (Catherine Longchamps, Pascale Lebeau) in the third completed the scoring. Kaylee Defresne had given the visitors a 1-0 lead in the first, on a shorthanded goal. Audrey Berthiaume faced 24 shots for the win compared to 39 for her opponent, Camille Scherger. Moncton was 1 for 5 on the power play and UPEI, 0 for 1.
"We did have difficulty to get going in the first, but we made adjustments which led to the win," said Moncton coach Marc-André Côté. "We had more shots on goal as we also had more power plays, but overall, we played better."
" The win follows a good week of practices on the ice," stated player of the game, Maëlle Rioux. "We practiced going to the net and shooting more often and that gave us the results we were looking for. After a month and a half of not playing, it took us a few minutes to get going. With the effort of all players, we were able to play well."
Moncton travels to Fredericton to play the fifth place St. Thomas University Tommies (9-8-1=19pts) on Saturday evening at 7p.m. UPEI plays Saint-Mary's Huskies on Saturday in Halifax.
