The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's soccer team delivered first-year head coach Luciano Lombardi his first OUA victory in an incredible 3-0 effort against the visiting Laurentian Voyageurs Sunday (Aug. 28) afternoon at Varsity Stadium.

Captain Laura Krkachovski opened the scoring for U of T in the 6th minute as she converted an early corner kick with a dramatic finish, slipping the ball just past the goalline before Voyageurs keeper Caitlin McNamara was able to clear.

Shortly after in the 12th minute, 2015 team scoring leader Natasha Klasios extended the lead for the Blues as a scramble in front of the Laurentian net saw the ball end up at her foot where she delivered the clinical finish for her first marker of 2016.

Klasios would add the final goal of the match in the 48th minute flyng past the Voyageurs defense to get a clean look at the Laurentian net.

Toronto was relentless with their pressure thoughout outshooting the Voyageurs 13-3.

Veteran goalkeeper Tori Edgar made two saves earning her first victory and clean sheet as a Varsity Blue.

Laurentian keeper McNamara finished with three saves.

The Blues will remain at home welcoming the Trent Excalibur to Varsity Stadium next Saturday (Sept. 3). Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
