11/26/2010 12:25:51 PM

The University of Regina's men's hockey team wraps up the first half of its Canada West schedule with two games this weekend against the University of Calgary Dinos at The Co-Operators Centre.

The Cougars enter the weekend in sixth place in the conference standings with 10 points and a 5-9-0 record on the season, but can put themselves right in the thick of the Canada West playoff race with a pair of wins this weekend.

The U of R is coming off a weekend split at Lethbridge, which saw Lucas Isley score the shootout winner in a 3-2 win on Friday before the team lost 4-0 to the Pronghorns on Saturday.

Terrance DeLaronde continues to lead the Cougars with nine points, while Isley has a team-high four goals and is tied with Dillon Johnstone for second on the squad with seven points. Cody Thoring leads Regina's blueliners with a goal and four assists on the season.

Adam Ward has made four consecutive starts between the pipes for the Cougars and that streak is expected to continue this weekend. Ward's 3.36 career goals-against average ranks third in U of R history, while the fifth-year goaltender is tied for fifth on the school's all-time list with 19 career wins.

Calgary's Reid Jorgensen enters the weekend with a Canada West-leading 11 goals on the season. The fourth-year forward also has four assists for a team-high 15 points. Torrie Wheat is second on the team with nine points, while Brock Nixon and defenceman Cory Pritz both have eight.

The Dinos, who hold a 6-4-2 Canada West record and are tied with Saskatchewan for third place in the conference standings, have started Dustin Butler in each of their previous three games. Butler has a 1.93 goals-against average and a .943 save percentage this season.

The teams split the four-game season series last year, with both squads winning twice at home.

Regina and Calgary will face off at 7 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday. The Cougars will have a pair of non-conference games next weekend against Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ont.
