Axemen pick up 2-1 win over Mounties to improve to 1-1

SACKVILLE, NB - The new look Mount Allison Mounties made their home debut on Friday night with a spirited effort in a 2-1 loss to Acadia. The game was played before an exuberant Alumni Field crowd who were happy to see the return of AUS soccer.

Acadia opened the scoring when Joe Latrou found the back of the net with a strike in the 18th
minute to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.

The Mounties were quick to respond as Tevin Lewis put the Mounties on the board in the 20th
to even the game at 1-1. The Mounties carried the play for the remainder of the first half,
finishing the half with 9 shot attempts to Acadia's 4 attempt.

The Homecoming crowd erupted as the Mounties scored early in the 2nd half, appearing to take
a 2-1 lead only to have the goal called back as a result of an offside call. Zane Brennan scored in
the 52nd minute to give Acadia a 2-1 lead. The Mounties pushed hard for the equalizer but could
not tie the game in the end.

Acadia's keeper Michael O'Flynn was named the Subway Player of the Game.

Acadia returns to action on Saturday as they travel to PEI to visit the UPEI Panthers. Mount
Allison sees its next action on Friday, September 24th when they host UNB at Alumni Field.
