MUN split their weekend series against the CBU Capers, 82-69.

It was another tight competition in the second game of the weekend series between the Sea-Hawks and Capers. Both teams had bright spots in the first half, but both were fighting to gain the edge. Cole Long of the Hawks led the team in scoring after two quarters with 12. For Capers, Cooper Ward led with 10 points.

At the end of the first half, the Hawks held a small lead over the Capers, 38-32. MUN was able to shoot decently from the field at 46%. They struggled from deep however, not getting many looks and converting fewer when given, shooting just 2/6 (33%).

The third quarter was a tight battle as Memorial was able to outscore CBU, 19-18. It was a physical frame of play with both teams getting in bonus.

Memorial put the nail in the coffin in the fourth quarter by maintaining their composure against a physical CBU defense. Despite their tough defense, the Capers struggled to convert on the offensive end, shooting under 20% from deep in the final frame. A key positive for the Capers was the production from the starting five, with four of five starters earning double digits.

For the Capers, Osman Omar had a team-high 20 points. For the Hawks, Cole Long and Jason Thompson were the main contributors in Sunday's win – Long ended with a double-double (26 points, 13 rebounds) and Thompson finished with 16 points.

The Hawks will look to get a couple wins against SMU next weekend, away from the fieldhouse.
