Axemen finish off season with loss to Gaiters in Lennoxville

LENNOXVILLE, Que – Bishop's Gaiters first-year pivot Justin Quirion was almost perfect on Saturday as they routed the Acadia Axemen 39-8 on Coulter Field.  

Quirion went 19-34 for 236 yards and four touchdowns.  

The win moves Bishop's to 3-3 and sets up a 'winner take all' matchup with the St. Mary's Huskies (3-3) next week in Lennoxville to wrap-up the AUS regular season. 

Acadia closes their 2022 campaign at 0-8 with the loss.  

 

How it Happened… 

…Bishop's scored early and often as they set the tone coming out of their bye-week 

…They took the opening kickoff and marched 69 yards in 3 plays capped by Quirion hitting Nykolas Pierre-Masse for the major 

…just 4:16 later Quirion hooked up with David Chaloux for the second major of the day and a 14-0 lead 

…Oliver Burnett joined the touchdown party on the Gaiters' first offensive play of the second quarter; a 36-yard reception  

…a rouge and Pierre-Masse's second touchdown catch gave Bishop's a 29-0 halftime lead 

…Noah Laursen booted through a 32-yard field goal midway through the third stanza 

…Marco Briones rounded out the Bishop's scoring with a 1-yard TD run late in the third  

 

For Bishop's… 

…Quirion dazzled; he finished 19-34 for 236 yards and 4 touchdowns; he also had a 12-yard run 

…On the ground David Chaloux ran 5 times for 71 yards while Birones rushed 8 times for 44 yards and the major  

…Pierre-Mass caught 7 balls for 43 yards and the 2 majors  

…Defensively Gabriel Royer once again led the way. He had 5.5 tackles including 2 for a loss and a sack 

…Saturday's contest was kicking coach Daniel Paquette's 100th on the Bishop's sideline
