SHERBROOKE, Que. --
Mehdi Ibn-Brahim netted a hat trick as a shorthanded McGill side blanked Sherbrooke 4-0 in RSEQ men's soccer, Sunday, at Stade Nouveau Concorde.
Ibn-Brahim, a 5-foot-6 freshman from Montreal, sits second in the conference scoring race with five goals and an assist.
Fellow rookie
Michael Makepeace of England tallied the other Redmen marker.
Clovis Fowo of France,
Ralph Khayat of Lebanon, and
Ramdane Tafer of Laval, Que., each recorded an assist in the win.
Antoine Marchal, a 6-foot-3 management freshman from Montreal, earned the clean sheet in goal for McGill.
Frédéric Hamel took the loss for the Vert et Or.
McGill's
Alexis Solis, a freshman defender, was issued a red card for taunting in the 30th minute, leaving the Redmen with 10 players for the remainder of the match.
With four games remaining before playoffs, McGill (3-3-2) currently sits tied with Concordia (3-4-2) for the fourth and final playoff berth. The Redmen next plays third-place UQAM (3-0-5) at Stade Saputo on Oct. 20. Last-place Sherbrooke (1-8-0) still has a mathematical shot of making the post-season but will be facing elimination when they visit Montreal (2-3-3) on Oct. 21.
