MONTREAL -- Brenna Bordeniuk bagged her first career shutout as McGill battled visiting UQAM to a hard-fought 0-0 draw in RSEQ women's soccer at Percival Molson Stadium, Thursday.

The 5-foot-4 rookie goalkeeper from Calgary was credited with two saves in the contest, including a critical diving stop to her left that thwarted a three-way passing play late in the first half. it was a good bounce-back game for the science freshman, who was saddled with the 2-0 loss to Laval in her first career start last week.

"She was calm, confident and made the big save that she need to make," said McGill head coach Jose-Luis Valdes. "Every cross that came in was cleanly handled. She looked like a veteran, calm and composed."

Earning the goose-egg between the pipes for the Citadins, at the other end of the pitch, was Andreanne Dubeau, a 5-foot-9 junior from Mirabel, Que., who made four saves.

"We deserved a better fate," Valdes added. "We didn't necessarily have a lot of possession and turned the ball over too much but we didn't allow them too many scoring opportunities in the first half. After the intermission, we decided to press and that gave us a little more confidence, which resulted in our side getting the ball higher up-field and created a more chances to score."

McGill, which improved to 0-1-1, will play at UQTR (0-1-0) on Sept. 19 in a 3:30 p.m. start. UQAM (0-1-1) will play at Concordia (0-1-0) on the same day in a 3 p.m. kickoff.
