The Dalhousie men's soccer team beat Mount Allison 1-0 Saturday night at Wickwire Field in Halifax.

The first half was scoreless as both teams struggled to generate quality scoring opportunities. While Dalhousie controlled position for most of the half, they were called offside multiple times trying to jumpstart the offence.

The second half was more physical than the first, as the play became more intense. Six yellow cards were handed out between the two teams. Dalhousie seemed to use this added intensity to their advantage and managed to put more pressure on Mount Allison goalkeeper Rhys Chambers (Halifax, NS), who made a handful of nice saves. The Dalhousie attack proved to be too much though in the 74th minute, when Connor Manuel, (Halifax, NS) scored off a corner kick by Suliman Elomrani (Halifax, NS) to give Dalhousie the win.

Jared Ndopedro (Campbellton, NB) earned Subway Player of the Game honours for Dalhousie after being subbed into the game early in the second half and injecting some speed and aggression into the Tigers attack.

Wickwire Field was packed with spectators, as Dalhousie opens their season with a win while Mount Allison falls to 0-2 after a Friday night loss to Saint Mary's.

Both teams will now turn their focus to next Saturday, September. 17, when Dalhousie travels to Fredericton to take on UNB, while Mount Allison hosts STFX. Both games will be played at 3:15 p.m. ADT.
