SUDBURY, Ont. - Conceding a goal in the 90th minute of play, the Ontario Tech University men's soccer team had the chance at their first win of 2019 spoiled as they settled with a 1-1 draw versus the Laurentian Voyageurs on Sunday afternoon in Sudbury.
Following a scoreless opening 45 minutes, second-year forward
Jean Paul Ajala-Alexis (Oshawa, Ont.) notched his first career OUA goal in the 60th minute to put the Ridgebacks ahead 1-0.
Defensively, the Ridgebacks were able to hold the Voyageurs to just four shots on goal in the contest, however in the 90th minute Nick Esperanca converted one of those chances into the game-tying goal with just seconds remaining in extra time.
Ontario Tech goalkeeper
Nicholas Miller (Oshawa, Ont.) finished the afternoon with three saves made, while Laurentian keeper Adam Scanlon recorded six.
The Ridgebacks continue to look for their first win of the new season with a road matchup against the Toronto Varsity Blues on Friday, Sept. 13. Kick-off for the Friday night contest is set for 8:15 p.m.
