Men’s hockey lose back-to-back games to open 2018

KINGSTON, Ont. – It was a similar path that led to the same result on Saturday night as the UOIT men's hockey team allowed three goals in back-to-back nights to lose 3-0 to the Queen's Gaels.

Like on Friday night, UOIT allowed two goals in the opening 20 minutes. Duncan Campbell opened the scoring 13:54 into the game, while Francesco Vilardi padded the lead with 1:53 to go in the period.

The Ridgebacks also allowed one goal in the second period, coming from Ryan Bloom with the ice still wet at the 1:26 mark of the middle frame.

Unfortunately for UOIT they were unable to pot a goal of their own as Jacob Brennan made 17 stops in his second shutout of the season. His last also was against UOIT on October 14.

Between the pipes for the Ridgebacks, Brendan O'Neill (Ilderton, Ont.) made 20 saves in the loss.

UOIT sits in sixth place in the OUA's eastern conference after the weekend, three points back of Carleton and two points ahead of the Ottawa Gee-Gees.

Next weekend they return to Kingston for a pair of games against the RMC Paladins. Puck drop for both of those games is 7 p.m.
