REDS Win Preseason Opener

(FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB REDS men's hockey team began their 2022 preseason schedule with a 6-1 win over the visiting Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus on Friday night.

Adam McCormick (Waterville, NB) led the REDS with three assists, while Austen Keating (Guelph, ON), Cole MacKay (Sault Ste. Marie, ON) and Brady Gilmour (Grafton, ON) each had a goal and an assist.

Mike Petizian (Mississauga, ON), Macauley Carson (Midhurst, ON) and Jason Willms (Kitchener, ON) also had goals for the REDS, while Cody Morgan (Gilford, ON) had a pair of assists.

Yann-Félix Lapointe (Granby, QC) scored Moncton's only goal of the game.

Veteran REDS goalie Griffen Outhouse (Williams Lake, BC) played the first period in the UNB net, making nine saves on ten shots. Newcomer Samuel Richard (Ste. Catherine, QC) played the second and third periods, stopping all ten shots he faced.

Etienne Montpetit (Valleyfield, QC) and Félix-Anthony Ethier (Deux-Montagnes, QC) split time in the Moncton net, each giving up three goals.

Next on the REDS' preseason schedule, a visit to Halifax and the Dalhousie Tigers, on Thursday.

Game time is 7:00pm.
