X-Women blank Mounties in fourth consecutive win

Sackville, NB – The STFX X-Women shutout the Mount Allison Mounties 6-0 on Friday night.

The Mounties were steadfast in defence in the first period surviving significant pressure from the X-Women to keep the game scoreless heading to the first break.

The best scoring chance of the period did come off of a Mounties stick as Rachel Carson struck the post late in the period.

The X-Women broke the deadlock midway through the second period as they capitalized on Mounites penalties, scoring two powerplay goals in a span of one minute and 20 seconds.

The powerplay goals by Tyra Meropoulis and Emerson Elliot were followed by a third goal for the X-Women, as McKiya Mazur scored with just two seconds left in the second period.

Scoring continued two minutes in the third period as Elliot tallied her second powerplay goal of the game to bring the score to 4-0 in favour of STFX.

Jayden Thompson added another one for the X-Women in the middle of the third period and Ellie Brown scored the final goal of the contest with 22 seconds remaining in the game.

Jamie Johnson got the shutout in goal for the X-Women as Kaitlyn Evelyn turned away 59 shots for the Mounties.

X-Women defense Lauren Dawbrowski received the Subway player of the game honour.

The Mounties will look too get back in the win column when they travel to face the UNB Reds on Saturday October 30th at 7pm.

The X-Women look to continue their hot streak - as they have now won four games in a row - when they travel to Halifax where they will be playing Saint Mary's at 7pm on October 30th.
