Fredericton, NB - The St. Thomas University Tommies (5-6-0-0) scored two first period goals leading to a 3-1 victory over the visiting Mount Allison University Mounties (1-10-0-0).

The first period was off to a to a scorching start with the Tommies piling on the offense early in the first, with the Mounties weathering the storm. Late in the period the Mounties would buckle under the heavy pressure from the Tommies. Erin Arsenault (Oakville, ON) would get the first goal of the game, assisted by Jacey Dane (Aurora, ON).

The Tommies weren't finished yet as they would score another quick goal late into the first. A beauty scored Olivia Reid (Aurora, ON) and assisted by Olivia Stock (Waterdown, ON) giving the Tommies the lead heading into intermission.

The second was just as action packed with the Tommies' offense not skipping a beat, but MTA would finally get some wind in their sails as they would start putting the Tommies under some pressure. That pressure wouldn't go without reward as MTA would score one in the last minute of play. A beauty of a shot in the slot scored by Mollie Grabe (Carleton Place, ON) and assisted by Rachael Carson (Burlington, ON).

The third period was filled with a high-octane pace from both teams trying to edge the other for the win. Both teams would fight in the corners and battle hard, but neither would budge. Halfway through the third Tommies' forward Emma Wilson (Midhurst, ON) would create a breakaway chance and score on a beautiful deke, giving the Tommies' the lead 3-1.

The Tommies held strong and would hold on to their lead to secure their first win after 3 straight losses, three to one.

"I think it just proves that we really do have it in us when we work together, we can be unstoppable," said Tommies' goaltender, Caroline Pietroski (Etobicoke, ON). She was also tonight's first star making twenty-four saves of twenty-five shots.
