Sea-Hawks sweep Axemen in Newfoundland

ST. JOHN'S, NL - The Memorial Sea-Hawks swept the Acadia Axemen in the weekend series, 89-76.

Memorial started the game on a 7-0 run. Acadia was slow out the gate, struggling to get a clean look on offense. Cole Long was exceptional in the first frame, putting up 3 three's in the first ten minutes. Acadia was able to string together a few good opportunities in the second quarter, going on a 6-0 start.

Cole Long led the Hawks at the half with 14 points on 4/6 shooting. Eli Kraushar led the Axemen at the half with 13 points. Both teams were similarly successful in the first half, although MUN held an eight-point lead, 44-36.

After the half, the Axemen made a solid push to gain a lead. It was a competitive quarter with both teams fighting to gain a solid lead. The final frame was the Hawks final push, supported by Daniel Foo's 10 straight points to push MUN ahead and maintain the lead for the remainder of the game. Cole Long was a solid contributor again today, finishing with 22 points and 9 rebounds. Deng Ring earned player-of-the-game with 13 points off the bench and 7 rebounds.

Despite the tempers flaring in the final few seconds of the game resulting in multiple technical fouls and unsportsmanlike conduct from the Axemen, the Hawks maintained their composure and finished the game on a positive note.

Memorial heads to St. FX for their next two game series, next weekend.
