(MONCTON, NB) James Phelan (Laval, QC) scored twice and added an assist, and Brady Gilmour recorded four assists to lead the UNB REDS in a 7-1 win at Moncton, on Friday night.

The visiting REDS took a 2-0 lead in the first period, and led 4-1 after 40 minutes.

Tyler Boland (St. John's, NL), Samuel Dove-McFalls (Montreal, QC), Thomas Casey (Charlottetown, PE), Isaac Nurse (Hamilton, ON) and Nicolas Guay (Chateauguay, QC) completed the scoring.

Nathaël Roy (Levis, QC) scored the only Aigles Bleus goal, midway through the second period.

Moncton Goalie Émile Samson (Levis, QC) was busy all evening, facing a total of 42 REDS shots. At the other end of the ice, UNB's Griffen Outhouse (Williams Lake, BC) stopped 14 of the 15 shots he saw.

Based on his four point night, Gilmour was named Subway Player of the Game.

The Aigles Bleus missed on a couple of opportunities in the first period that could have made a difference. However, the REDS kept the game in Moncton's zone for much of the game with their passing and speed. UNB's defence didn't give Moncton's offense too many chances.

With the win, UNB is now 8-1-0, and atop the Atlantic University Sport standings with 16 points. Moncton falls to 2-7-1, good for just five points.

UNB now travels to Charlottetown for a Saturday contest against UPEI. The Aigles Bleus see their next action on Friday, when they host Saint Mary's.
