Sea-Hawks Leave CBU on a High

The CAPERS dropped the second game in the weekend series with the Memorial Seahawks 93-80 on Sunday afternoon at the Sullivan Fieldhouse. The CAPERS were unable to hold onto to a 47-42 first-half lead. The Seahawks used a dominant third quarter to overtake the CAPERS outscoring them 31-14. The CAPERS were once again led by local players MacKenzee Ryan (Glace Bay, NS) who had 21 pts and 7 assists as well as Hailey MacLeod (Marion Bridge, NS)  who had 18 points and 10 rebounds in just 21 minutes. The Seahawks were led by impact player Haillie Nickerson who had an astonishing  42 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists. Alana Short also had a strong game with 12 points and 13 rebounds for the Newfoundland school.

Turning point – The CAPERS' first-half lead disappeared quickly in the 3rd quarter as Nickerson scored 15 points in the quarter. That was all Memorial needed to take the victory.

  • The Seahawks Nickerson led all players with 42 pts
  • Short led the game with 13 rebounds
  • CBU's Mackenzee Ryan had a game-high 7 assists
  • MUN's Nickerson also went 10 for 12 from the line

The CAPERS fall to 0-4 on the season.
