Sackville, NB - The Tommies 5-0 win over Mount Allison earned St. Thomas a much needed two points to finish off their first four-point weekend of the year. Sunday night also marked goalie Caroline Pietroski's fourth shutout of the regular season.

After a few games of struggle on the powerplay, Tommies' captain, Alex Woods (Courtice, ON) was able to put away a rebound with the man advantage to give STU the 1-0 lead. The push continued for the entire period with consistent pressure and quick transitions in the neutral zone by the Mounties, but the rest of the period was left scoreless.

The second period brought penalty trouble for the Tommies, who were able to kill them off but not without their faceoff percentage falling from 67% to 48% since the first period. Mount Allison would keep much of their offensive zone play below the goal line, attempting give and go plays to generate some offense, but it was the Tommies, who came out on top, outscoring the Mounties 3-0 in the second period. Goals came from Olivia Reid (Aurora, ON), Emma Pye (Oshawa, ON), and Claire Nimegeers (Wilcox, SK).

The Mounties didn't give up in the third period, jumping hard on faceoffs and trying to generate shots on the powerplay. The Tommies ran into powerplay troubles once again, unable to capitalize on a two man advantages, however, veteran Mariah Carey (Avonport, NS) earned her first goal of the season to make it 5-0 for STU, the final score of a matchup between two quick teams.

The Mounties will be in action next on Wednesday, November 24 when they host the UPEI Panthers for a midweek game, while the Tommies will finish their first semester of play with a Nova Scotia road trip to face the Dalhousie Tigers and StFX X-Women beginning Friday, November 26.
